IELTS Cue Card 78: Describe a time you got lost in a place you didn’t know about.

I like to travel to new places. Mostly I travel to only known places, and I get very few opportunities to travel to distant places. Last year I had to travel to another city where I had never gone before.

You should say:
When did it happen?
Who was with you?
What did you do?
How you felt about it?

For GIRLS (she, her):

I like to travel to new places. Mostly I travel to only known places, and I get very few opportunities to travel to distant places. Last year I had to travel to another city where I had never gone before.

Actually, one of my friends has been residing there with her family. Earlier, they had been living in my Village but two years back, she and her family moved to another city because of some reasons. She was my childhood friend. We had spent our Childhood together. We went to school and played together. At one time, we were inseparable. Every day we would meet and stay together for long hours.

Last year, I got her call and she invited me to her engagement ceremony. She insisted me to attend her party in any case. She gave me the address of her house. I promised that I would come.

Then I traveled to that City by bus. I asked someone in the bus-stand about location of destination address. It was just 10 minutes-walk. So I started walking but I could not find the location or any landmark. There was no sign board mentioning directions or name of location. I checked with someone. They told me that I had come wrong way and that was an Industrial Area. They tried to make me understand the road to destination but I could not get it. I also tried to take help from my phone’s navigation app but the signal was too weak and the app was not responding.

Moreover, it was too much heat outside. I was sweating and afraid also. I was alone and feeling uncomfortable and tired. I found myself totally lost in that area.

After wandering there for around one hour, at last, I made a call to my friend and requested her to help me. I went back to the bus-stand. Then she sent someone to pick me from there.

It was a very bad experience of traveling to somewhere. From that experience, I learnt that it is better to use a cab or auto-rickshaw if you don’t know the route to destination location.

So this was the time when I got lost in a place I did not know about.

For Boys (He,his, him):
